Types of Backups

On-Site Backup

On-site backup, also known as offline backup, involves making a copy to an external hard drive. These drives are swapped daily so that you have a backup of your data for each day. However, companies often forget to swap the drives or store them at an external location.

Cloud Backup

At Progression, we strongly advocate for cloud backup (internet). The advantage of cloud storage is that files are not stored on physical hardware, reducing the risk of theft and loss. Data in the cloud is always encrypted, and there is less room for error. Additionally, cloud backups can be tested for data restoration, ensuring that your backup is always reliable. Data can also be retained for longer periods, allowing recovery up to one or two years back.

Backup disaster recovery

Many organizations underestimate the importance of a well-functioning backup solution. Imagine your server crashes, and you discover that the backup hasn’t worked for six months. Can you imagine the impact this would have on your business? Do you still know who your customers are and which invoices are still outstanding?

What is a Backup?

A backup is a copy of data that is stored on a data carrier or within an application. These copies are made proactively to secure important data.

Data on the original carrier can be lost or damaged due to accidentally deleting a file, hard drive failure, theft, or unexpected disasters such as fire or water damage.
